Ok....I'm a little angry...

This is a huge story here in Tennessee....it was big enough to attract the attention of Erin Brockovich (love that movie).

Now, take into consideration this story where Tennesseans are struggling to pay their electric bills due to the economic downturn. The most important part of the story is the last paragraph....

TVA said the cost to clean up the Dec. 22 ash spill in East Tennessee is expected to cost tens of millions of dollars and will be passed on to customers. TVA officials testified in Washington about the spill.

I watched a little bit of the news story where the head of TVA testified before Congress. From what he said, they knew that there was a problem....they chose not to fix it, the clean up is going to cost 100 more than the repair would have...

And let me get this straight.....their customers have to pay for it?

I think common sense has been flushed down the toilet everywhere. Is there anyone left who can make a smart business choice??

As far as I'm concerned I think it is a crime that these costs will be passed along to us customers. If I ever meet any of these guys who will still make their huge salaries while they raise our rates, I would kick them in the balls.

I'm angry for several reasons. Harriman Tn. has always been a planned pit stop for food and needs, when I have business trips along this stretch of interstate. It's south of Walden's Ridge and east of the Cumberland Plateau in the Tennessee valley. Harriman represents a heart beat of American 'blue collar', people who still hold dear the 'Golden Rules'. This area is a geological 'gold nugget', and the people too. This incident goes beyond tragedy.. horrific to say the least. ~Via
